Makita TCT Omnibohrer Drill Bits, Straight Shank

Makita TCT Omnibohrer multi-material drill bits with a straight shank, from 3mm upwards. One bit drills concrete, brick, tile, wood, plasterboard and soft metal, which is why they end up living permanently in most maintenance kits.

Why one bit for everything

The tungsten carbide tip is ground to a geometry that cuts rather than purely hammers, so it works in a plain rotary drill without hammer action. That is the point of it: you can drill a tile, carry on through the render into the block behind, and fix into timber with the same bit, without stopping to change.

Using them well

• Straight shank, so they fit any keyless or keyed chuck — no SDS tool needed.
• Switch hammer action off for tile. Hammering is what cracks glazed tile; let the carbide cut.
• Go slowly through the glaze, then increase pressure once you are into the body of the tile.
• For repeated deep holes in concrete, a dedicated SDS-Plus bit will still be faster.
