Milwaukee MX FUEL Explained: Petrol-Free Equipment for Singapore Sites
M12 and M18 cover hand tools. MX FUEL is Milwaukee's answer to the next size up — the equipment that has always run on petrol or a generator lead.
It is a separate platform with its own batteries and chargers, and it is aimed squarely at work where fumes, noise and trailing cables are a problem.
Why a third platform exists
A cut-off saw or a tower light needs far more sustained energy than an 18V pack can sensibly deliver. Rather than stacking M18 batteries, Milwaukee built MX FUEL as its own class of equipment with much larger packs.
The argument for it is not that batteries beat petrol on raw output. It is everything around the output: no exhaust fumes, so it can run indoors and in basements; no fuel storage or mixing; far less noise, which matters on sites with working-hours restrictions; and no warm-up or pull-start.
In Singapore specifically, the indoor and enclosed-space case is the strong one — carpark decks, basements, lift shafts, tunnels, anywhere a petrol saw means ventilation planning.
The equipment
MXF COS350G2-0 Gen II 350mm Cut-Off Saw — the headline tool. A 350mm cut-off saw with no exhaust, which is the entire reason to own one. Second generation, so it benefits from a few years of field feedback on the original.
MXF TL-0 Tower Light — a full site tower light that runs off a battery. No generator, no cable run across the site, no fuel top-ups overnight.
MXF TLIC-0 Compact Tower Light — the smaller version, for when you need to light a work area rather than a whole site, and you need it to fit in a van.
MXF PS-0 Power Supply — the interesting one. It turns MX FUEL packs into a mains-style power source, so corded tools and equipment can run where there is no supply yet.
Batteries and charging
MX FUEL packs are their own thing — they do not fit M18 tools, and M18 packs do not fit MX FUEL equipment.
- MXF XC406 REDLITHIUM 6.0Ah — the standard pack.
- MXF HD812 FORGE 12.0Ah — double the capacity, for long cutting sessions or overnight lighting.
- MXF C Charger and MXF SC Super Charger — standard and fast.
Plan for at least two packs on any tool you intend to use for a full shift. One on the tool, one on the charger, is how this platform is meant to run.
Is it for you?
MX FUEL makes sense if you work indoors or in enclosed spaces where exhaust is a genuine constraint, if noise restrictions limit when you can run petrol equipment, or if the cost and hassle of getting power to a work face is slowing you down.
It makes less sense if you work in the open with easy access to a generator, run petrol equipment continuously all day, or only cut occasionally — the entry cost is real and the economics favour heavy, regular use.
It is worth being straightforward about that: this is expensive equipment. The return comes from set-up time, access, and the jobs you can take on that a petrol saw rules out — not from the cutting itself.
