Osprey is a hand protection line, and the EN388 rating on each glove is the part worth reading. A glove marked 4543 is cut-resistant and suited to handling sheet metal, glass and blades; 4121 is a general-purpose grip glove for construction and handling. Disposable nitrile suits chemical handling and short dirty jobs, leather suits heat and rough material, and rubber-coated gloves suit wet work.
How to Choose a Glove
- Cut risk – look for a high third digit in the EN388 code (for example 4543) when handling metal or glass.
- Grip – nitrile and rubber coatings hold onto oily or wet material; bare leather does not.
- Dexterity – thinner gloves for fine work, heavier for demolition and material handling.
- Disposable or reusable – disposable nitrile for chemicals and short dirty jobs.
